UK Three Peaks Challenge mountain landscape

Three Peaks: The Longest 24 Hours

Challenges & Endurance / Upcoming
The UK Three Peaks Challenge is not a race. It's a test of logistics, endurance, and mental fortitude. Three mountains across three countries in 24 hours — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon. The training isn't about speed; it's about sustained effort, efficient transitions, and the will to keep moving when the body wants to stop. The challenge is simple on paper, brutal in practice, and unforgettable once you've done it.
Endurance is built in the hours that nobody sees. The long training days, the early mornings, the decisions to go out when the weather is marginal.
24 hours. 3 peaks. 1 day that changes everything.

Kili Training

Training for Kilimanjaro in the UK hills

Building the Endurance and Mindset

Challenge / Training
Training for Kilimanjaro has shown me something I think a lot of people forget: the climb of a big mountain starts long before you ever see it. Right now, the work is happening here in the UK — on muddy trails, cold mornings, and long runs where the only thing pushing you forward is the reason you started. These sessions aren't just about getting stronger; they're about reconnecting with the place I'm heading back to. Every mile here feels like a step toward Tanzania, toward the communities, the people, and the way of life I grew up with. The prep is becoming its own story — one that anyone chasing something big will recognise.
What this journey keeps teaching me is that preparation is where the real change happens. The mountain is just the moment you find out who you've become. The lessons come earlier — in the discipline, the consistency, the days you show up tired, and the days you surprise yourself. You don't need to be climbing Kilimanjaro to feel this. Anyone working toward something meaningful knows that the hardest part isn't the summit — it's the months of quiet work leading up to it.
This training isn't just preparing me for Kilimanjaro — it's reminding me, and hopefully others, that every big journey begins long before you reach the mountain.

Ultra-Endurance Foundations

Base Building for the Long Game

Challenge / Endurance
Ultra-endurance is not about how fast you can go. It is about how long you can keep going. The base building phase is 12-16 weeks of consistent, low-intensity work designed to build aerobic capacity without breaking the body down. Zone 2 heart rate. Long slow miles. The discipline to stay controlled when every instinct says to push harder.
The foundation of all endurance is patience. Rush the base and the structure above it will crack.
Slow is smooth. Smooth is far.
Training

Training Log: Week 1-4

Establishing consistency. 4-5 hours per week of zone 2 work. Building the habit before building the fitness.

Training

Training Log: Week 5-8

Increasing volume. 6-8 hours per week. Introduction of terrain-specific work and strength sessions.

Training

Training Log: Week 9-12

Peak volume. 8-10 hours per week. Back-to-back long days to simulate challenge conditions.

Training

Training Log: Week 13-16

Taper and readiness. Reduced volume, maintained intensity. Preparing mentally and physically for the challenge.

In Progress

Expedition Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is more than a climb. It is a journey through five climate zones, from tropical forest to arctic summit. The approach is slow by design — altitude demands patience. The film project adds another layer: capturing the experience without compromising the experience itself. Every step is documented, but the priority remains the same — being present for the challenge.

Kilimanjaro does not reward speed. It rewards respect for the process. The mountain allows you to climb it. Never forget that.
