- 1. Keswick → Spooney Green Lane — Start from Keswick and follow the signed path toward Spooney Green Lane — a gentle lane with an easy warm-up as views toward Skiddaw develop early.
- 2. Spooney Green Lane → Lower Slopes — Cross the bridge over the A66 and begin the gentle climb — grassy slopes, smooth paths, and rolling terrain, ideal for families. The gradient is steady and never difficult.
- 3. Lower Slopes → Summit Ridge — The path steepens slightly as you approach the ridge — short steeper pulls on compacted gravel with occasional rocky patches, on a wide, safe path. Views open toward Derwentwater with Skiddaw rising dramatically behind.
- 4. Latrigg Summit — A broad grassy top with one of the best low-effort panoramas in the Lake District — Derwentwater below, the Borrowdale valley, the Catbells ridge, Walla Crag, Skiddaw towering behind, and Blencathra to the east. Superb at sunrise or sunset.
