- Option 2 — Captain Cook's Monument Loop · ~7 km · 2–3 h · Gribdale car park — Climb to Captain Cook's Monument, follow the moorland ridge, approach Roseberry Topping from the south, take the steep final ascent, then descend to Newton-under-Roseberry. More varied, with ridge walking and two iconic landmarks.
- Option 3 — Roseberry + Little Roseberry Ridge · ~4–5 km · 1.5–2 h · Newton-under-Roseberry — The classic ascent, then continue over the ridge to Little Roseberry and return via moorland paths. Adds distance, better views, and a quiet moorland section.
